“Passion and Paint : A Journey of Connection, Collaboration and Purpose in the Surface Coatings Industry”

Success in the surface coatings industry is often measured by technological innovation, commercial achievement and product performance. Yet behind every advancement lies something equally important: people, relationships and a shared passion for the industry.

In Passion & Paint, John Keramidas reflects on his personal and professional journey through more than two decades in the coatings sector, from his early involvement with the Surface Coatings Association Australia (SCAA) to serving as President of both SCAA and Coatings Societies International (CSI). Through personal stories, industry experiences and lessons learned along the way, John explores how meaningful connections, active collaboration and a willingness to engage with others have shaped his career and contributed to the growth of the global coatings community.

This presentation highlights the importance of professional associations, mentoring, networking, and international cooperation in fostering innovation, knowledge sharing and industry sustainability. It also examines how collaboration across the value chain continues to drive progress as our industry responds to changing customer expectations, environmental challenges and the transition toward more sustainable technologies, including waterborne coatings.
