Biography

Rebecca Ortiz joined Dow Coatings Materials in 2007 as an Associate R&D Scientist.  In this role she is responsible for leading the development and evaluation of novel coating resins and additives applicable to the industrial coatings market.  She began her career with DCM developing robotic equipment and high throughput testing protocols used in the development and evaluation of coating materials.  Rebecca has over 25 years of coatings formulation experience, including new product development for both waterborne and solventborne technologies. Her knowledge of formulation is broad covering general industrial OEM, electrodeposition, M&PC, ACE, and wood coatings.  Prior to Dow she worked in new product development at both Valspar and Sherwin Williams and as the Barrier Properties Lab Manager at Michigan Molecular Institute. Rebecca has authored several publications, pending patent applications and recently had her first patent granted. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University receiving her B.S in Polymers and Coating Technology.
