Application Methods for Waterborne Coatings
This lecture will describe many of the application methods used to apply coatings, with an emphasis on issues unique to waterborne coatings, such as formulating for the correct rheology and ways to prevent coating defects. Methods covered include brush, roll, spray (conventional, airless, electrostatic, etc), various types of deposition coatings, roll coating and others. The techniques will span both architectural and industrial applications, and include common methods for applying coatings in both field and factory settings. Benefits and disadvantages of each method will be discussed.
