Abstract

Waterborne coatings have experienced significant growth in the last 30 years, due to the increased environmental awareness and tighter regulations. pH neutralizers, although used in very small quantities in waterborne coatings, play an essential role in wet and dry coating performance.
This talk will discuss a proprietary amine neutralizer ANGUS recently developed and its applications in waterborne industrial and automotive coatings. This novel amine neutralizer, with its unique structure and physical properties, provides enhanced performances for physical drying and chemical curing coatings such as lower curing temperature, better early water resistance, and better final film properties.

Biography

Chunzhao Li graduated in 2005 with a PhD degree in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He joined Elementis Specialties in 2006 and developed the Rheolate CVS technology platform which is the basis for Rheolate CVS 7, 10, 11, 15. In 2010, Dr. Chunzhao Li moved to Henkel Corporation where he spent the next 5 years developing both emulsion and solvent-borne laminating and pressure sensitive adhesives. Dr. Chunzhao Li joined ANGUS Chemical Company in 2015 and is in charge of ANGUS’s product development efforts for paints and coatings applications.  His background includes polymer and small molecule synthesis, formulations including coatings/adhesives.
